The Woggle-Bug
The Woggle-Bug was once a regular insect living in a classroom who listened in to all the lessons. One day he became magnified and he stayed that way. Highly Magnified and Thoroughly Educated, this pompous creature opened the Royal Athletic College of Oz. He appears in The Marvelous Land of Oz, the first sequel to Baum’s original book and reappears in subsequent books.

The problem is the character of the Woggle-Bug - and all the other characters for that matter - is hopelessly racist. The Woggle-Bug fits into the tradition of black face - both in the text and the illustrations. In terms of racism toward the Chinese, one of the main characters is a stereotypical “Chinaman” and a "Chink":

Consider also his resemblance to this guardian deity from the Taoist Wong Tai Sin Temple in Hong Kong. This is one of the Four Heavenly Kings, Zēngzhǎng Tiānwáng, the King of the South.
